Pila Pharma has recently received regulatory approval to initiate the PP-CT04 study – an important step in the development of the company’s TRPV1 antagonist for obesity and other indications. The new study involves significantly higher doses and a longer treatment duration than its predecessor, PP-CT02, putting tolerability in focus, an area where TRPV1 antagonists as a drug class have historically faced challenges. BioStock spoke with Pila Pharma’s CEO Gustav Gram about the study’s design, which signals the company will be closely monitoring during the dose escalation phase, and how the results could impact further development – not only within obesity, but also for other potential indications such as erythromelalgia and diabetes.
