Acast's dedication to the open ecosystem continues to attract Sweden's most famous podcast creators
The podcast company Acast can today announce that the successful podcast Flashback forever, with nearly 1.2 million listens a month, has chosen Acast as podcast partner to further strengthen its existing format. Through the choice of Acast as a platform, the podcast now has access to Acast's entire offering – from hosting and distribution to marketing towards listeners, and much more.
In a short time the podcast, with its three hosts, has completely organically grown into a great success – with almost 23 million listens since the start in January 2020.
In 2021 the podcast has had continued positive growth, and has climbed up to fifth place as one of Sweden's largest commercial podcasts, according to Poddindex. Last week, the show also won the title of Humor Podcast of the Year at the Childhood Cancer Gala – The Swedish Humor Awards 2021.
Emma Knyckare, from Flashback forever, said: “At first we mostly saw the podcast as a fun project and we had not really thought about growth or financing. But as the podcast grew, it became clear that people wanted us to continue – and also have the right circumstances to continue to prioritize the episodes and develop the format, such as arranging our upcoming live show."
For the winter, the trio is planning a grand podcast tour with more than 50 performances across Sweden. Acast's goal is to help the podcast reach new audiences and thereby broaden its existing listener base.
“This is an extremely significant signing for Acast and we see great potential for the pod to grow further. Flashback forever has in a short time become one of Sweden’s most acclaimed podcasts – the trio has an outstanding ability to capture their audience in a smart and humorous way. We hope that more people will discover their spot-on and witty observations in Sweden's most mythical internet forum,”said Frida Klevemark, content manager at Acast.
Ina Lundström from Flashback forever adds: “In the future, we hope to continue to be able to do exactly what we do now – say ‘no’ to boring things and say ‘yes’ to fun things – but above all to have the freedom to do whatever we feel like doing. Maybe that's what many of our listeners appreciate about us.”
