Enersense has signed an agreement with Recset Rakennus Oy to deliver high-voltage substation integration works for atNorth's data centre in Kouvola, Finland. The agreement strengthens Enersense’s position as a trusted partner for data centres.
Enersense delivers the substation for atNorth in partnership with Recset, who is responsible for the substation building, while Enersense will provide the engineering, installation, integration and commissioning of the high-voltage secondary and auxiliary systems, ensuring the integration of the primary high-voltage equipment into the overall substation solution. The project starts immediately, with the substation scheduled to be ready for energisation during the third quarter of 2027.
As a Finnish company, Enersense will execute the project using its local engineering and project teams. The project is expected to create more than ten person-years of work for Finnish engineers and other professionals.
The substation will supply power to the FIN04 data centre, part of atNorth's FIN04 mega site in Myllykoski, Kouvola in Finland. FIN04 is atNorth's fourth site in Finland and, once fully developed, will provide up to 430 MW of power capacity. The data centre is designed to serve both colocation customers and build-to-suit data centre projects.
Enersense is also responsible for designing and constructing Fingrid’s Lemmensaari substation, which will connect atNorth’s FIN04 mega site to Finland's main transmission grid by the end of 2026.
“We are pleased to deliver critical infrastructure for one of Finland's largest data centre sites. This project further strengthens Enersense's position as a trusted partner for data centre power infrastructure, combining engineering excellence with proven project execution,” says Frank Ligthart, Director of Enersense’s Data Centre Unit.
“We are happy to partner with Enersense in this substation project, as it has extensive track record in delivering high-voltage substations and strong in-house engineering expertise,” says Riku Vainiokangas, CEO of Recset Rakennus Oy.
“Reliable power infrastructure is fundamental to every data centre we build. We are pleased to have Enersense joining the development of our key data centre site, with its proven substation expertise, to deliver FIN04 through close collaboration," says Romeo Xenos, Power Delivery Manager at atNorth.
The value of the agreement is approximately EUR 7 million, and it will be recorded in the Power Business Unit’s order book in the third quarter of 2026.
