Nidhogg Resources Holding AB (publ) identifies new strong magnetic anomaly in the Vintjärn–Kölen area
Nidhogg Resources Holding AB (publ) ("the Company" or "Nidhogg") has completed a second phase of ground-based magnetic surveying at the Vintjärn–Kölen exploration permit area in Falun Municipality at the end of June 2025. The survey covered the remaining two-thirds of the permit area, equivalent to approximately 440 hectares, with the objective of validating and supplementing previous data with higher resolution.
The new field campaign confirms the results from the initial survey conducted in November 2024 and shows consistently high and homogeneous magnetic anomalies across large parts of the area. The anomaly extends eastward from the Vintjärn central shaft over a total distance of approximately 5,100 meters, including a non-magnetic section of about 800 meters, and spans between 800 and 1,300 meters in a north–south direction.
This includes a previously unknown high-intensity anomaly located in the central part of the permit area, with recorded values ranging from 55,000 to 57,500 nT — higher than those measured at the Vintjärn central shaft, Åggruvan, and Kölen, where iron has previously been mined or identified in drill cores. The newly identified anomaly extends at least 400 meters east–west and 200 meters north–south and remains open to the east and north.
The measurements were conducted using a magnetometer and high-precision GPS navigation. The resolution was 10 meters between data points in the north–south direction and 100 to 200 meters between survey lines in the east–west direction, depending on terrain. Reference measurements were performed continuously to ensure data quality.
The data were processed using interpolation (Kriging), and filtering was applied to map variations of the total magnetic field. Anomalies were identified where the total field exceeded 52,000 nT, which corresponds to elevated levels compared to background values in the region (46,000–49,000 nT), covering an area of approximately 3,242,100 square meters.
This corresponds to an exploration volume of approximately 69 million tonnes of iron ore with an estimated iron content of 37.5% (based on an average of 40% Fe in Kölen and 35% in the Vintjärn area according to SGU) and an assumed magnetite thickness of approximately 7 meters (based on drill hole 1/74 located approximately 50 meters southeast of Åggruvan).
In order to classify this as a potential iron ore resource, further investigations including drilling are required.
"The discovery of a previously unknown anomaly is very exciting. Magnetic levels exceeding 57,000 nT are exceptionally high and clearly surpass the reference values we have from known iron occurrences in the area," says Niclas Biörnstad, CEO of Nidhogg Resources Holding AB (publ). "We see great potential in following this up with additional surveys and modeling ahead of a future drilling program."
