Xoma’s Biological Purification Technology (FLOW) Shows Strong Results at SCA’s Facility
Xoma today confirms for the first time that tests of its biological water purification technology at SCA, one of Europe’s leading forestry companies, demonstrate effective purification of both zinc and copper.
On December 10, 2024, Xoma announced that it will treat process water from a Swedish industrial company. It is now gratifying to present these positive results within the previously communicated timeline.
The tests have been validated by Umeå University.
Once again, Xoma’s FLOW technology has demonstrated its ability to purify complex heavy metals, contributing to cleaner water systems.
To understand the value of FLOW, it should be noted that a water purification plant at a major Swedish industrial company can cost between SEK 300 and 800 million per facility, with annual operating costs ranging from SEK 10 to 70 million.
“As the newly appointed CEO, I am proud to present these strong results and look forward with confidence to the future,” says Mourad Lahdo, CEO of Xoma, in a statement.
This disclosure contains information that Xoma AB is obliged to make public pursuant to the EU Market Abuse Regulation (EU nr 596/2014) and the Swedish Securities Markets Act (2007:528). The information was submitted for publication, through the agency of the contact person, on 27-06-2025 08:17 CET.
Xoma AB was founded with the vision to revolutionize the food industry through sustainable algae cultivation.
The company has developed a world-unique system, CLAS (Closed Loop Aquaculture System), which
offers a pioneering method for growing algae in a sustainable and efficient way. This system
reduces water and energy consumption significantly compared to traditional farming methods and can
scaled up to meet the growing demand for sustainable food. Xoma's other business area is that we use our algae to purify process water from heavy metals.
