10:11 AM EDT, 04/27/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Bayer (BAYN.F) on Monday said it expects the US Supreme Court to release a decision on a cancer lawsuit against its Roundup herbicide product before the end of the court's current session in June.

The court on Monday will hear Bayer's appeal of a Missouri state court jury verdict awarding $1.25 million to a man who claimed that prolonged exposure to glyphosate, a main ingredient of Roundup, caused his non-Hodgkin lymphoma. The case centers on the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act, or FIFRA, and the company's alleged failure to add a cancer warning label to the herbicide.

"Allowing such claims to proceed invites a patchwork of state standards that conflict with the uniformity objective Congress prescribed in law and creates uncertainties that impede the development of new agricultural innovations,"the German pharmaceutical company said.

Former Solicitor General Paul Clement will argue the case for Roundup maker agrochemical giant Monsanto, which was acquired by Bayer in 2018. The company said a favorable ruling by the high court will provide "essential regulatory clarity"for companies that seek to bring approved and new products to consumers.
