Danske Bank Boosts Financing for Defense Companies, Exec Says

12:12 PM EDT, 05/11/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Danske Bank (DANSKE.CO) is increasing its financing for companies in the defense industry, particularly those developing so-called dual-use technologies that can be used in both civilian and military settings, Bloomberg News reported Monday.
In an interview, Johanna Norberg, head of business customers at the Danish lender, said the bank is adding more dual-use companies to its loan book amid their growing importance in the defense supply chain.
"I don't see our position being perceived as controversial or challenged. If anything, the opposite,"Norberg noted.
Despite the shift, Danske Bank still does not provide financing for anti-personnel mines, cluster munitions, biological and chemical weapons, as well as nuclear weapons outside international treaty rules, among other controversial weapons, according to Bloomberg.
