More than 600 existing and former OpenAI employees sold their shares in a single stroke in October, collectively making $6.6 billion, the unnamed sources told the publication. For about 75 of them, the move meant walking away with the full $30 million, according to the source.
Employees had to wait for two years to sell the shares, according to the report.
Microsoft has invested billions into OpenAI, the maker of generative AI chatbot ChatGPT.
