08:09 AM EDT, 04/22/2026 (MT Newswires) -- AST SpaceMobile (ASTS) said Wednesday it has received commercial authorization from the Federal Communications Commission to deliver direct-to-device cellular broadband from space across the US.

The approval allows the company to deploy up to 248 low-Earth orbit satellites using the 700 megahertz and 800 megahertz spectrum, enabling standard smartphones to connect directly to space-based networks.

The system will operate with partners including Verizon Communications (VZ), AT&T (T) and FirstNet to enhance coverage and network resilience, it added.

Shares of AST SpaceMobile were up 7% pre-bell Wednesday.
