04:16 AM EDT, 05/15/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon-backed (AMZN) Anthropic's $1.5 billion agreement to end a lawsuit from authors was reviewed by a federal judge Thursday, who demanded more information, Reuters reported Friday, citing a San Francisco court hearing.

The judge requested further details on attorney fees and specific payments to the lead plaintiffs before issuing a final decision, the news outlet reported.

Authors initially started the legal action in 2024, claiming the company used pirated copies of books to train its Claude chatbot, encompassing more than 92% of the 480,000 works involved, the report said.

A separate group of writers filed a new complaint against the business Wednesday after opting out of the multi-billion-dollar resolution, Reuters reported.

Anthropic and the San Francisco court did not immediately respond to MT Newswires'request for comment.
