Brookfield Renewable Partners (BEP) reported Q1 funds from operations Friday of $0.55 per unit, up from $0.48 a year earlier.

Analysts polled by FactSet expected $0.52.

Revenue for the quarter ended March 31 was $1.51 billion, down from $1.58 billion a year earlier.

Two analysts surveyed by FactSet expected revenue of $1.50 billion.

The company maintained a quarterly cash dividend of $0.392 per unit, payable June 30, to holders of record as of May 29.

The company also said it has begun exploring whether it would benefit from combining its BEP and Brookfield Renewable (BEPC) listings under a single corporate structure.

"The goal is to determine if, on a tax-free basis, we can create a single corporate security that would enhance liquidity, increase index inclusion and create value for our investors,"the company said.

Shares of the company were up 4% in premarket activity.
