Lumito AB (publ) ("Lumito" or the "Company") today announces the appointment of two internationally recognised experts to its Scientific Advisory Board (SAB): Professor Arutha Kulasinghe, one of the world's leading researchers in spatial biology, and Gemma Jones, Translational Pathology Scientific Director at AstraZeneca and with expertise in biomarker-driven drug development. These appointments give Lumito stronger access to leading experts in how cells behave in tissue and in the development of new cancer treatments.
Arutha Kulasinghe is Chair of Spatial Medicine at The University of Queensland and Founding Scientific Director of the Queensland Spatial Biology Centre. Spatial biology enables researchers to study how cells interact within tissue, improving understanding of disease biology and supporting more effective drug development. Arutha Kuliasinghe is internationally recognised for his work in cancer biology, spatial biology, and precision medicine, with a particular focus on biomarkers and the tumor microenvironment. Kuliasinghe has authored more than 120 scientific publications and was named "Researcher of the Year" by Cure Cancer in 2023. In 2024, Kuliasinghe was also recognised as one of Australia's leading innovators.
Gemma Jones is Scientific Director, Translational Pathology UK at AstraZeneca and has more than 13 years of experience in translational medicine within oncology. Jones possesses extensive expertise in biomarker strategies, digital image analysis, and the development of tissue-based biomarker assays for clinical drug development programs. Jones’ expertise is particularly relevant as antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) and biomarker-driven drug development continue to play an increasingly important role in cancer treatment.
Since Gemma Jones and Arutha Kulasinghe joined Lumito's Scientific Advisory Board, two meetings have been held, both including relevant parts of the Scientific Advisory Board and additional expertise from the global pharmaceutical industry. One meeting focused on drug development and future opportunities in biomarker-driven oncology drug development, and the other meeting focused on developments in spatial biology and how Lumito's technology can complement and create added value alongside established and emerging solutions on the market. The discussions were centered on Lumito’s unique strengths, market positioning, and how to further build evidence, drive interest from larger industry players, and strengthen the commercial value proposition.
Both meetings were characterised by a strong operational focus and resulted in concrete insights regarding the Company’s priorities, including initiating collaborations with pharma partners, exploring retrospective studies, and building further evidence that SCIZYS complements existing spatial biology solutions on the market.
"We are pleased to welcome these highly respected international experts to our Scientific Advisory Board. Their combined expertise across drug development, advanced tissue analysis, pathology, and diagnostics strengthens Lumito’s access to critical insights within these areas, helping to guide our operational and strategic priorities.Lumito's Scientific Advisors are Paul Waring, MD, PhD (Chair), Pascal Bamford, PhD, Arutha Kulasinghe, PhD, Gemma Jones, PhD, Robert Gunnarsson, Sc, Executive MBA, PhD, Mark Lackner, MD, PhD, Executive MBA, and Jason Hipp, MD, PhD.

About Lumito
Lumito specialises in medical technology and translational research in digital tissue imaging. Lumito offers a groundbreaking, highly sensitive imaging technique to locate and measure protein biomarkers in tissue samples using up-converting nanoparticles (UCNPs) through its patented research platform. The technology combines image data with precise biomarker detection, enabling images with higher contrast where irrelevant background information is filtered out. The technique can enhance the analysis of tissue samples by increasing objectivity, thereby contributing to research for more quantifiable diagnoses and optimised treatments. Lumito primarily focuses on drug development and digital pathology and is a spin-off from a research group at Lund University's Department of Atomic Physics and Laser Center. www.lumito.se/en/
The share is traded on NGM Growth Market under the name LUMITO, and Mentor is Mangold Fondkommission.
