Mandatum and WWF Finland’s new guide promotes responsible investing

Press release, 10 December 2025 at 10:00 a.m. EET

Mandatum and WWF Finland have jointly published an updated Investor’s Guide to Climate and Environment, which provides up-to-date information and practical tools for responsible investing. Biodiversity has also been included as a new theme. The guide helps private investors identify companies that operate within the limits of nature’s carrying capacity or are on the path towards more sustainable business practices.

The climate crisis is one of the key factors influencing the economy and constantly ranks among the top risks in the World Economic Forum’s future risk assessments. In the long term, climate change will inevitably affect all sectors and companies. Every investor can support biodiversity and help mitigate climate change through their own choices. The newly published Investor’s Guide to the Climate and Environment is designed to assist in making responsible investment decisions.

“Biodiversity loss and climate change are major societal threats that are shaking the economy and reshaping the fundamentals of investing. Investors hold both power and responsibility. That is why it matters where capital is directed”, says Jari Luukkonen, Secretary General of WWF Finland, in the foreword to the guide.

The guide, produced in collaboration between Mandatum and WWF Finland, is being published for the third time. It brings together the latest research findings and perspectives on responsible investing. Combining WWF’s expertise with Mandatum’s investment know-how, the guide offers readers a clear understanding of the principles of responsible investing, such as the consideration of the ESG factors.

“It is wonderful that we can combine our expertise in sustainability and investing with Mandatum. When these come together, they create a recipe for a better future – and better investing”, Luukkonen continues.

The guide includes concrete methods for responsible stock and fund investing, along with checklists, practical examples, and up-to-date information on the returns and risks of responsible investments. The updated edition includes a new theme alongside climate change: biodiversity.

"Biodiversity loss constitutes a significant economic risk. Companies' operations depend in many ways on the ecosystem services provided by nature, the protection of which is essential for the long-term stability of business operations," says Mandatum’s Head of Responsible Investments Sari Rajakangas.

The guide is intended for all privateinvestors who want to make impactful and responsible investment decisions and be part of building a more sustainable future.
