Qlucore, a leading provider of software for precision cancer diagnostics, has received approval for a third payment of approximately EUR 0.5 million under its previously awarded EU grant. The total grant amounts to EUR 2.5 million and is distributed across four installments.
The project aims to accelerate the development of clinical cancer diagnostic solutions for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and bladder cancer. Following successful progress and review within the agreed project timeline, the next installment is now approved for disbursement.
Over the course of the three-year project, Qlucore will develop and launch CE-marked software for clinical cancer diagnostics in AML and bladder cancer. The solutions are intended for use in clinical laboratories and will also support the development of companion diagnostics in collaboration with pharmaceutical partners.
AML and bladder cancer are areas of particular focus due to their complex RNA profiles. These RNA-based signatures offer significant potential to improve diagnostic accuracy and treatment selection. However, such molecular information is currently not fully utilized in clinical practice. The project aims to enable broader adoption of this data to support more precise, individualized treatment decisions.
Research-use-only versions of the tests for AML and bladder cancer have been available since April 2026 through Qlucore Insights.
For use in clinical diagnostics, software must comply with IVDR regulations and obtain CE marking. In this project, Qlucore builds on prior investments in Qlucore Diagnostics BCP-ALL, including both software capabilities and a certified quality management system. Qlucore Diagnostics BCP-ALL 1.0 was launched in February 2025 and is currently in use at clinical laboratories.
“This EU payment strengthens Qlucore financially and supports our continued progress in RNA-seq-based clinical diagnostics,” says Carl-Johan Ivarsson, CEO of Qlucore.
The initial target market includes clinical laboratories across Europe, followed by expansion into the U.S. market.
