11:11 AM EDT, 04/20/2026 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts started the week tracking lower late Monday morning, as the S&P Europe Select ADR Index was falling 0.54% to 1,830.11.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by semiconductor company Sequans Communications (SQNS) and telecommunications company Ericsson (ERIC), which rose 5.3% and 3.9% respectively. They were followed by telecommunications company Nokia (NOK) and internet browser company Opera (OPRA), which increased 2.7% and 2.2% respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by biopharmaceutical company Cellectis (CLLS) and lender Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA), which dropped 7.7% and 3.9% respectively. They were followed by lender Banco Santander (SAN) and biopharmaceutical company Grifols (GRFS), which were down 2.5% and 2.4% respectively.

The gainers from the UK were led by biopharmaceutical company Biodexa Pharmaceuticals (BDRX) and oil and gas company BP (BP), which advanced 15% and 1.4% respectively. They were followed by telecommunications operator Vodafone Group (VOD) and tobacco company British American Tobacco (BTI), which were up 1.1% and 0.5% respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical company Akari Therapeutics (AKTX) and communications company WPP (WPP), which lost 7.5% and 2% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company NuCana (NCNA) and cruise line operator Carnival (CUK), which fell 1.9% and 1.3% respectively.
