08:27 AM EDT, 05/06/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft (MSFT) may delay or entirely abandon an ambitious clean-energy target as it races to power data centers, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing unnamed people with knowledge of the matter.

The tech giant set a 2030 goal of matching 100% of its hourly electricity use with renewable energy purchases, but the energy-intensive and costly construction of data centers is impacting the feasibility of its climate commitments, sources told Bloomberg.

Microsoft didn't immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
