07:03 AM EDT, 04/23/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) is creating 1,000 new jobs at its Gruenheide gigafactory in Germany by the end of June to raise weekly production by roughly 20% from Q3, Reuters reported Thursday, citing a company spokesperson.

The decision comes due to rising demand for the model Y, while recruitment for the Gruenheide plant is expected to start next month, the spokesperson told Reuters.

The EV maker has also initiated a search for several hundred new staffers for battery cell production, which is anticipated to start in H1 next year, the news outlet said, citing the spokesperson.

Tesla did not immediately respond to MT Newswires'request for comment.

Tesla's stock was down 3% in Thursday premarket activity.
