11:04 AM EDT, 05/06/2026 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates to add statements from Visa and PayPal)

The UK's Financial Conduct Authority on Wednesday confirmed investigations into Mastercard (M4I.F), PayPal (PYPL.VI) and Visa (VISA.VI) over suspected anti-competitive behavior about the funding and usage of PayPal's digital wallet.

The British regulator's statement came after PayPal revealed the investigation in its first-quarter earnings report on Tuesday. The FCA said no conclusions or findings of any breaches by the financial technology companies have yet been reached.

Mastercard confirmed to MT Newswires that it received a request from the FCA for details of its contractual relationship with PayPal, adding that it "will be cooperating fully and transparently"with the regulator. Visa also confirmed its cooperation with the FCA.

"PayPal is cooperating with the FCA. As this is a pending investigation, we cannot comment further at this time,"a spokesperson told MT Newswires.
