Peab expands waterworks in Eskilstuna

Peab has been commissioned to develop Hyndevad Waterworks in Eskilstuna by building new process steps that complement the existing plant. The customer is Eskilstuna Strängnäs Energi o Miljö AB and the contract is worth SEK 326 million.

Hyndevad Waterworks is one of Eskilstuna Municipality's most important sources of drinking water. The expansion is part of the municipality's efforts to meet the future demands of a growing population, climate change and different raw water conditions.

The project includes two new process steps: precipitation with lamella sedimentation which removes biological material directly from raw water pumped up from the Hyndevad River, and UV-based disinfection which is an additional microbiological barrier to minimize the risk of harmful microorganisms.

In addition to this, the pipelines in the facility will be rerouted. This investment reinforces water supply and ensures a robust and reliable solution for the future.

This construction contract was preceded by a so-called phase 1 agreement where Peab was contracted to optimize the project with the right quality together with the customer and handle risks and uncertainties. The project is now entering phase 2, which entails signing a construction contract.

The project is a turnkey contract in partnering, where phase 2 comprises the actual production and execution.

The project will be order registered in the fourth quarter 2025.
