11:48 AM EDT, 04/23/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft (MSFT) is planning to offer the first voluntary employee buyout in its history to a small percentage of its workers, CNBC reported Thursday, citing a memo it viewed.

The one-time retirement program will be open to US employees at the senior director level and below whose years of employment and age add up to 70 or more, according to the news outlet.

Microsoft employees and their managers will get details on May 7, CNBC reported, adding that workers with sales incentive plans will not be able to participate.

Microsoft didn't immediately respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.
