04:30 AM EDT, 04/21/2026 (MT Newswires) -- PG&E (PCG) said Monday it approved the Tesla (TSLA) Cybertruck alongside specific charging hardware for participation in its residential bidirectional power program.

This is the first vehicle-to-grid application cleared for customers in California, allowing electricity to transfer using standard home wiring rather than specialized direct current equipment, the company said.

Enrolled vehicle owners can use the system to power their residences during outages and earn compensation by supplying electricity back to the utility network during periods of high demand, PG&E said.

Eligible participants can receive up to $4,500 to cover bidirectional equipment and interconnection costs, with additional financial incentives available for supporting planned grid events, the company added.
