02:41 AM EDT, 05/20/2026 (MT Newswires) -- China's bond yield dropped to its lowest since August 2025 despite a global bond selloff, Bloomberg News reported Wednesday.

This week's yield on the ten-year government bonds dropped by more than three basis points to 1.73% as of Tuesday, Bloomberg said.

China's yields were unlike those of the U.S. and Japan, which climbed recently, widening the gap between the currencies. The gap between China's yield and that of the U.S. widened to almost 300 basis points, while the gap with Japan's yield widened to 102 basis points, about five times compared to the end of 2025, according to the media outlet.

The decline in China's bond yields came after a decline in economic indicators for April, with the growth of retail sales and industrial output slower compared to the previous month.
